‘H&M with Friends’ x Good American

The retailer H&M (Hemings and Mäler) is known for its fashion-forward collections and wide range of sizes, including plus-size options. The company sources raw materials from various locations around the world and has collaborated with designers like Madonna, Stella McCartney, and Viktor & Rolf.

The latest collaboration with Good American, the body-positive brand co-founded by Khloe Kardashian and Emma Grede, takes further steps toward inclusivity. The collection features denim in inclusive sizing from 00 to 32 plus, including skinny and classic styles as well as 90s-inspired jeans. Other standout pieces include a sensual strapless black scuba bodysuit with a deep V neckline and a coordinating metallic lilac vest and trousers.

The line will launch online and in select stores on Thursday, Nov. 9. In addition to the fashion, H&M is releasing its first-ever home collection in partnership with Rabanne, the Paris-based design house founded by the late Spanish designer Paco Rabanne.

The Standout Pieces

Despite its reputation as fast fashion, H&M has made efforts in recent years to be more environmentally conscious. This has included introducing the H&M Conscious collection and making an effort to make more of its clothes out of organic and recycled materials.

While H&M certainly capitalizes on the fourth wave of feminism with its women empowerment shirts, it’s hard to tell whether the brand is actually committed to the ideals they advertise. After all, the retailer still doesn’t offer plus-sized clothing in their stores and maternity wear is often limited to just a few sizes.

While it’s great that H&M is expanding its offerings in Friendship Heights, shoppers should also check out a few other high-street favorites like Missguided and Zara. Both of these stores carry a wide range of stylish trends that can be worn for work, school, or even a night out on the town. Moreover, both stores also have plenty of basics and loungewear perfect for binge-watching The Bachelorette on your couch.

The Perfect Party Look

The holidays call for a mix of timeless classics and contemporary styles. From a sequined bomber jacket to a velvet shirt, H&M has you covered. The new Party Edit is curated with men in mind, who like their style with a touch of retro rock and glam.

The store also has a range of accessories, shoes and bags. They’ve worked with designers Jeremy Scott and Moschino, among others.

The Friendship Heights location will open at noon Aug. 1. It’s located in the Chevy Chase Pavilion at 5335 Wisconsin Ave NW. The Red Line-accessible neighborhood straddling DC and Maryland is home to upscale shopping, including Lord & Taylor, Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus.
